Community Outreach

Dr. Kim and Dr. Desai are Buying Back Halloween Candy to Benefit Teeth and Braces!!!

Halloween candy can contribute to tooth decay and even damage orthodontic braces and appliances. Dr. Kim and Dr. Desai will help their patients avoid injury to their braces and teeth by buying back Halloween candy.

Dr. Kim and Dr. Desai will pay their patients $3 for each pound of Halloween treats surrendered in the office. They will also match that amount and donate it to For Our Children’s Unlimited Success, Inc. Donations to FOCUS directly benefit many children’s programs throughout the state.

Our doctors note that the days immediately following Halloween are usually an orthodontist’s busiest time of year for emergency calls. They are hopeful that the candy buy-back program will cut down on orthodontic emergencies, yet help patients enjoy the holiday. The office will accept Halloween candy from their patients for weigh-in until the day before Thanksgiving.

**Please note that only candy collected during Trick or Treating will be accepted.

We have been collecting books in the months of April and May for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Read to Grow and the Children’s Center since 2004.
During July and August of every year, we collect school supplies to give to Big Brothers/Big Sisters. They distribute them to the children that need them at an annual back to school picnic. We’ve been participating in this program since 2003.
From November to February of every year, we collect new and gently used coats to donate them to local area homeless shelters. We’ve been keeping people warm since 2004!
